On Monday night we hosted our annual Open House. Parents learned about their child's schedule and took a virtual tour of the junior high school through our school website. Parents met their child's teachers, visited classes and learned about how the students are using technology in their classes this year.
The 7th graders have learned to master the junior high school, for the most part. What seemed like an impossibility, they can now do. Most students know their schedule, their locker combinations, and even where all of their classes are. We had a new student this past week and an "experienced" 7th grader was able to show around this new student and show them where to go.
The 8th graders are fully entrenched in their classes this year. One of the great parts of looping is that students and teachers great off to a running start early on in the 8th grade.
One of our 7th grade math classes spent some time learning about integers and exploring adding and subtracting positive and negative numbers. Here are some pictures from their integer activity.
There are several field trips coming up this week, including the 8th grade trip to Washington DC. The DC trip is one that students always have a good time at. If you haven't signed up your 7th grader yet, you still have time. You can learn more about it on the Discover DC page.
We also had our first dance of the year on Friday night. It was outside in the courtyard. It was a fun night for all. And even I learned something. Brianna and Abby decided to try to teach me to "whip" and "nay nay". Not sure how I did, but I gave it my best shot and we sure did have fun!
