Happy Holidays

On behalf of the entire faculty and staff of Exeter-West Greenwich Junior High School I would like to take a moment to wish you all a happy winter break and hope that you all enjoy some time with your family.

On Tuesday we had a great presentation by Kevin Robinson. He was really motivating and talked to us about being positive and achieving anything you want by working hard. He encouraged us to say one nice thing to someone and you might be surprised at how it makes everyone happier. 


K-Rob showed us tricks on his bike, but he also taught us something about the word TRICK
T=Teamwork
R=Respect
I=Inspire
C=Confidence
K=Kindness 

Some other important messages he share with us are that everyday we should stop and reflect on our day and ask ourselves if we did something positive for others today. He told us that you control your own mood - so make it a positive one. And on Thoughtful Thursday, Kevin asked us to do 3 nice things for someone else. Let's all try to be kind and supportive of each other.

He also talked about the importance of being kind, which has been a school wide theme this year. One of the main themes of the book Wonder was to choose kind. Some of the advisories have recently completed decorating ceiling tiles with themes from Wonder. Next time you are in the Junior High, look up, and check out these inspirational messages.

On Wednesday night Superintendent Erinakes had a community forum about our recent PARCC scores. His presentation is on the district site. 

The Jr. & Sr. High drama troupe will be putting on a production of A Christmas Carol this weekend. We received a sneak peak this afternoon and hope you will join our students this weekend to see it. They have all worked hard to put this production together.

Happy Friday!

Couple of quick reminders:

The Metcalf Holiday Bazaar is this weekend. 

The Jr. Sr. High School Drama Club is doing a production of A Christmas Carol next weekend, December 10 - 12. 

Also, the superintendent will be hosting a community forum about PARCC Results and Next Steps




French and Spanish classes held an "in school field trip".  They had a special lunch with French and Spanish food from Spain restaurant and La Creperie restaurant. 

We had another fantastic Friday Knight meeting today to recognize staff and students of the month. Check out all those who were recognized this month.

11/20/2015

On November 5th he held our annal Mix-it-up day lunch. Several 8th grade student leaders worked with Ms. Lurgio, Mr. Ezovski, and Mrs. Pearson to plan some activities for the students. We ask students to sit at a different table for lunch and learn something new about students they don't usually sit with.

Students in Mrs. Brocato's science lab were learning about how to measure liquids using a variety of different measuring tools. As they work on data and measurement, they are focusing on metric measures and ensuring that all of their numbers are "properly dressed" with the right units.

 8th graders in Mr. Main's class are exploring the causes of the American Revolution. They are learning some valuable lessons about the freedoms we now enjoy.

 Reminder to all students the Monday 11/23/2015 is New England Patriots Spirit Day. Wear your Patriots clothes to school on Monday. 

We have no school next Wednesday, 11/25 as we celebrate Thanksgiving. 
Thanksgiving is a time for gratitude. I am grateful that I have the opportunity to work here at EWG Junior High. I am thankful for the wonderful teachers and students I work with everyday and for the supportive community I work in.
